LifeWorks offers health resources
By this time of year, many people have given up their fitness- and health-related New Year’s resolutions, so LifeWorks — Rice’s University’s Employee Assistance Program — is offering resources online to put together an exercise plan and actually stick to it.
Those wanting to start a fitness regimen can find advice in LifeWorks’ new recording “Walking,” featuring author Miriam Nelson. She discusses the physical, social and emotional benefits of walking; ways to get started; and how to make walking a part of each day’s routine. Employees can also access articles, such as “Exercise and Fitness,” “Get Strong With Strength Training” and “Staying in Shape as You Age.”
LifeWorks is a free, confidential resource available to all Rice employees, regardless of whether they participate in a Rice medical plan.
The service, which is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, offers information, advice and support on a wide range of issues, including parenting and child care, education, older adults, midlife and retirement, disability, financial matters, legal issues, managing people, health and wellness, addiction and recovery, and grief and loss.
Access LifeWorks by calling 888-267-8126 or going to <www.lifeworks.com> (user id: rice; password: owls). At the site, employees can access articles, workshops, locators, self-assessments and more.
