Amazing Faiths of Houston, a collaborative project of Rice’s Boniuk Center for the Study and Advancement of Religious Tolerance, Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston and the City of Houston, is sponsoring its first Dinner Dialogues Night Jan. 30. Members of the Rice community are invited to gather in small groups in private homes throughout the city with other Houstonians to share a meal and discuss their faith, religious diversity and common human values.
”No matter if a person practices a faith or not, everyone is encouraged to participate in these dialogues, as the only requirement is to come to the dinner with a spirit of tolerance and respect,” said Jill Carroll, associate director of the Boniuk Center.
Hosts of a dinner dialogue will provide a simple, healthy meal for up to
10 people. Each dinner will have a trained facilitator with them to lead the evening’s discussion.
”We have enough hosts at this time and are now looking for people who would like to come to dinner with a group of strangers who come from different religious perspectives to share and learn about one another,” Carroll said.
Registration for Dinner Dialogues closes Jan. 8. To register as a participant, call 713-348-2222 or visit <www.amazingfaithshouston.org>.
