The 25-22, 25-18, 13-25, 14-25, 15-13 victory was the Owls’ first against the Longhorns, ending a 36-match losing streak that began in 1982. It was also Rice’s first triumph over a top-10 team.

Prior to Wednesday, the largest crowd to watch a Rice volleyball match was 1,429.

Rice, which improved to 10-1, will host TCU at 2 p.m. Saturday. UT dropped to 5-2; its only other loss was to No. 1 Stanford.
