Ping Sun to speak on leadership

Rice University representative Y. Ping Sun, wife of Rice President David Leebron, will speak on ”Leadership in Community and Nonprofit Organizations” at 5 p.m. Feb. 28 at Farnsworth Pavilion, Ley Student Center.

Ping serves in numerous leadership roles on campus and in the Houston community. She is a member of the boards of the Asian Chamber of Commerce, Texas Children’s Hospital, Teach for America (Houston regional board), Asia Society (Houston chapter) and the Asian Chamber of Commerce. She also is on Mayor Bill White’s International Affairs and Development Council, and she is of counsel at Yeter & Warden LLP. At Rice, Ping is a member of the Governing Council at Rice’s Shepherd School of Music and an honorary chair of Rice’s Baker Institute Roundtable.

The talk is sponsored by the International Leadership Competency Forum, a student-initiated, collaborative effort to provide students an opportunity to learn global leadership skills directly from a variety of successful international leaders in business, academia, governmental and nongovernmental organizations.

The lecture is also sponsored by the James A. Baker III Institute for Public Policy, the Rice International Students Association, Leadership Rice, the Graduate Students Association and the Office of International Students and Scholars.
