Just six months after Human Resources switched the hiring process to RiceWorks, Rice has far exceeded its goals to improve the employment application system.
Hiring time has been reduced 30 percent and the application pool has increased 26 percent, said Jana Callan, director of recruitment and systems management. Human Resources originally aimed to reduce hiring time by 10 percent and increase the applicant pool by 5 percent.
It now takes Rice an average of 46 days to fill a position, compared with 65 days before. Open jobs now average 29 applicants versus 23 previously.
RiceWorks replaced a paper-based system and its efficiencies are enjoyed by both job applicants and hiring managers. It is now much easier for managers who are recruiting to access applicant data and other information needed during the hiring process. Job applicants may create and edit their employment information online, as well as apply for multiple positions.
RiceWorks also provides links to information about employee benefits, compensation, training and contacts in the Human Resources department.
