Who knew that Rice University would show up as a clue in a New York Times crossword puzzle?

In last Sunday’s puzzle, the clue for a five-letter word in 103 down read, “Many Rice grads: Abbr.”
The answer was “engrs,” the abbreviation for engineers.
Congrats to Marcia Citron, the Lovett Distinguished Service Professor of Musicology, for solving the puzzle and alerting News and Media Relations about this Rice citing.
