“Imperial Knowledge: Russian Literature and Colonialism,” a book by Ewa Thompson, research professor of German and Slavic studies, was recently published in Kiev, Ukraine.

Steven Lewis, a fellow in Asian studies at the James A. Baker III Institute for Public Policy, professor in the practice of humanities and associate director of the Ting Tsung and Wei Fong Chao Center for Asian Studies, presented a lecture in February on “International Energy Research” at the inaugural conference of the Energy Research Center of Fudan University in Shanghai, China. Lewis also spoke in May on “China and Energy Security in Asia” at the 2008 Northeast Asia Energy Outlook seminar in Washington, D.C.

Alumna Sofia Adrogué ’88 has been selected as a 2008 Texas Executive Women “Woman on the Move” and also as one of Houston’s 50 “Most Influential Women” by Houston Woman Magazine.
