Travel writers convention set for October
In October, more than 500 members of the Society of American Travel Writers will attend the organization’s annual convention in Houston. Rice University is partnering with the Greater Houston Convention and Visitors Bureau to show off the city and its attractions.
Rice’s Boniuk Center for the Study and Advancement of Religious Tolerance Executive Director Jill Carroll will shepherd travel writers and photographers on bus tours of Houston’s dynamic places of religious worship, including Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, Jade Buddhist Temple, Rothko Chapel, Lakewood Church and Live Oak Friends Meeting House. Rice’s Susanne M. Glasscock School of Continuing Studies will host the convention’s educational classes on digital photography, Photoshop and photography end design.
Historically, host cities have received an average of 40 million in circulation as a result of stories written about the convention experiences.
