Participants in Rice University’s 10th annual Powwow April 11 competed for prizes and entertained spectators with Native American songs, dances and costumes.

Hosted by the Rice Native American Student Association, the powwow began with gourd dancing and a grand entry parade, led by members of the Alabama Coushatta tribe.

The Native American social gathering also featured food and crafts.
