Use Main Street exits during today’s influx of football fans

Thousands of football fans will be heading to campus late Friday afternoon to watch the Rice Owls take on Southern Methodist University in the first game of the season. Many Rice employees will be heading in the opposite direction as they leave work. To keep traffic moving smoothly after 4 p.m., the Rice University Police Department recommends that faculty and staff exit campus through entrances 1, 2 or 3 onto Main Street. This should help prevent traffic jams at the entrances by the stadium. Those who return to campus for the game are encouraged to use entrances 8, 18 or 20.
