Elaine Howard Ecklund, associate professor of sociology and the director of Rice’s Religion and Public Life Program, presented a lecture titled “No Faith in Science” Nov. 10 at the Red Hat Centerin Amsterdam.
Neal Lane, the Malcolm Gillis University Professor and professor of physics and astronomy, received the Southeastern Universities Research Association’s (SURA) 2011 Distinguished Friend of Science Award at the SURA board meeting Nov. 9. The award honors those whose extraordinary efforts “fulfill the SURA mission of strengthening the scientific and technical capabilities of the Southeast and nation.”
