Rice’s BioScience Research Collaborative (BRC) and the Gulf Coast Consortia hosted a special seminar April 25 by Dan Gallahan, deputy director of the National Cancer Institute’s (NCI) Division of Cancer Biology. Gallahan told the audience that cancer remains one of the greatest health challenges in the world, and he outlined recent efforts by the NCI and others in the area of cancer systems biology. Gallahan’s seminar kicked off a two-day NCI Integrative Cancer Biology Program workshop that focused on education, training and outreach.
