Rice President David Leebron used his October webisode of “Campus Conversations with the President” to talk about Rice’s history. The interviews with Rice historians John Boles and Melissa Kean coincide with Rice’s October Centennial Celebration.
In Boles’ segment, the president discusses Rice’s first 50 years. The president then discusses Rice’s semicentennial with Kean. The semicentennial period was a time of great expansion of the university, both in terms of the student body and construction of buildings.
“Campus Conversations with the President” is recorded monthly in Rice University’s interview studio in Allen Center and is produced by the Office of Public Affairs. Each month Leebron highlights Rice faculty and research in an interview-style format.
