The Rice Black Student Association (BSA) commemorated Martin Luther King Jr. Day with a candlelight vigil in Rice Memorial Center’s Ray Courtyard and a program at Rice Memorial Chapel on the eve of the Jan. 21 national holiday. Among the speakers were Stephen Klineberg, professor of sociology and co-director of the Kinder Institute for Urban Research; Algenita Scott Davis, executive director of Houston Habitat for Humanity; Rebecca Isaac, BSA president; José Aranda, associate professor of English and Hispanic studies; and University Representative Y. Ping Sun.
