Former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman to speak at Baker Institute Student Forum Jan. 31

HOUSTON – (Jan. 22, 2013) – Jon Huntsman, former United States ambassador to China and former governor of Utah, will discuss “America in 2013 and Beyond: Challenges and Opportunities” Jan. 31 with the Baker Institute Student Forum at Rice University. Most recently, Huntsman ran as a candidate for the Republican presidential nomination until leaving the race in January 2012.

Who:               Jon Huntsman, former United States ambassador to China and former governor of Utah.

What:             Talk on “America in 2013 and Beyond: Challenges and Opportunities.” Open to the Rice community only.

When:             Thursday, Jan. 31, 6-7:30 p.m.

Where:           Rice University, Baker Hall, Kelly International Conference Facility, 6100 Main St.

Huntsman began his career in public service as a staff assistant to former President Ronald Reagan. He served four U.S. presidents in roles around the world, including as ambassador to Singapore, deputy assistant secretary of commerce for Asia, U.S. trade ambassador and, most recently, ambassador to China.
