The Office of Public Affairs received five citations of excellence at the 51st annual American Advertising Federation-Houston ADDY Awards, which recognize creative excellence in the art of advertising. The awards were determined by a national panel of judges who evaluated all creative dimensions of every entry. Rice Magazine, the quarterly magazine produced by Rice’s Office of Public Affairs, earned distinction in the category of magazine design for issue No. 14, which featured “100 Things We Love About Rice.” Advertising prepared for Rice’s Centennial Celebration received two citations, one for the outdoor program that included a METRO train wrap and station posters, billboards, light-pole banners and the Centenni-bug. A second citation was awarded for the complete Centennial Celebration campaign that included the outdoor components as well as print advertising, TV and radio spots, Rice Magazine and the METRO promotion. Also earning an individual citation of excellence from the federation was the “Brilliant Minds” Centennial radio spot and the new post-Centennial “Challenging Convention” public service announcement. The Jones Graduate School of Business was also recognized for its MBA DNA campaign, which received a silver ADDY Award for the brochure and a citation of excellence for the integrated campaign.
