NSF postdoc to present ‘My Life in Mathematics’

Nancy Rodriguez

Nancy Rodriguez, a National Science Foundation postdoctoral fellow at Stanford University, will talk about the experience of becoming a Ph.D. in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) April 15 at noon at Duncan Hall, Room 1070.

Rodriguez, who studies applied partial differential equations in crime modeling and biological aggregation, will discuss what it takes for underrepresented students, particularly women and minority students, to excel in STEM fields.

The talk is sponsored by Richard Tapia, Rice’s University Professor and the Maxfield-Oshman Professor of Computational and Applied Mathematics, through the Rice Center for Excellence and Equity in Education. Lunch will be provided.
