Thrane named one of ‘Houston’s 50 Most Influential Women’

Rice University Vice President for Public Affairs Linda Thrane is one of “Houston’s 50 Most Influential Women of 2013” – a distinction awarded by Houston Woman Magazine.

The magazine’s staff determined the top 50 from nominations submitted by more than 200 subscribers.

”Those selected as Houston’s 50 Most Influential Women of 2013 are individuals with vast networks of social and professional connections,” said Beverly Denver, the magazine’s editor and publisher. “They have earned an enviable reputation for possessing an expertise in a particular field or arena. They are considered knowledgeable, credible and trustworthy. The thoughts and actions of these women influence the thoughts and actions of others.”

The honorees were recognized at an afternoon tea Jan. 12 at the St. Regis Hotel.

Others from Rice who have received this honor in previous years include University Representative Y. Ping Sun, alumna and Houston Mayor Annise Parker ’78, alumna and Glasscock School of Continuing Studies Dean Mary McIntire ’75, alumna and trustee emeritus Susie Glasscock ’62 and Phoebe Tudor, wife of alumnus and Rice Board of Trustees Chairman Bobby Tudor ’82.
