Harvard expert on the history of China’s cultural elites to speak at Chao Center

Peter Bol, vice provost for advances in learning and the Charles H. Carswell Professor of East Asian Languages and Civilizations at Harvard University, will present “Digital Humanities Projects for China Studies” at 4:30 p.m. Feb. 10 as a guest speaker for Rice’s Chao Center for Asian Studies.

The public event is part of the Chao Center’s Ephemera Project and will be held in the Humanities Building, Room 117. A Q-and-A session will follow Bol’s presentation.

Bol’s research focuses on the history of China’s cultural elites at the national and local levels from the seventh to the 17th century. He is the author of “Neo-Confucianism in History” (2010).
