Unconventional students at Rice: ‘Becoming who I wanted to be’

Will Rice College senior Lam Yuk Wong came to Rice from China in the fall of 2010 not knowing what to expect.

As commencement approaches, the electrical engineering major says she has discovered many new and exciting things, from an appreciation for the abundant squirrels on campus to academic achievement through a senior design project . In fact, that project won her and her partner the Willy Revolution Award for Innovation in Engineering Design and a $5,000 prize.
