The future of the Affordable Care Act in focus at Rice’s Baker Institute June 12
HOUSTON – (June 4, 2015) – Leading health economist Vivian Ho will discuss the state and future of the Affordable Care Act at Rice University’s Baker Institute for Public Policy June 12. This Baker Institute Health Policy Forum luncheon event is open to the public; tickets must be purchased to attend.
Who: Vivian Ho, director of the Baker Institute’s Center for Health and Biosciences, the institute’s chair in health economics, a professor of economics at Rice and a professor of medicine at Baylor College of Medicine.
What: A presentation titled “The Affordable Care Act: What Happens Next.”
When: Friday, June 12. Lunch will be served at noon; Ho’s presentation will begin at 12:30 p.m.
Where: Rice University, James A. Baker III Hall, Doré Commons, 6100 Main St.
Millions of Americans have purchased health insurance through HealthCare.gov, and the uninsured rate has dropped to a historic low, according to event organizers. At this event, Ho will analyze research from across the country to examine where Obamacare is leading America. She will discuss changes in insurance coverage and health care expenditures since the passage of the Affordable Care Act, the Supreme Court case on the legality of insurance subsidies under HealthCare.gov, the effect of Obamacare on Medicare and the future of employer-provided health insurance.
