Rice students were treated to a musical showcase Sept. 16 by the Houston Symphony Orchestra. As part of the Passport to Houston program, students enjoyed Brahms’ Violin Concerto, conducted by Hans Graf. The program also premiered a new work by Rice’s Pierre Jalbert, professor of composition and theory, to commemorate the 10th anniversary of 9/11.
Passport to Houston is a program designed to engage students with the city in a way that helps them be community-oriented, socially engaged and culturally aware. |
