Oswald voted president of Society of Industrial and Organizational Psychology

Fred Oswald, a professor in the Department of Psychology, has been elected president of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP) for 2017. He will assume the role in April 2017.

Oswald was elected by members of SIOP, the premier professional association dedicated to advancing the field of industrial-organizational, or I-O, psychology. The organization boasts more than 8,000 academic and professional members. I-O psychology is the scientific study of human behavior in the workplace, applying psychological theories and principles to organizations, employees and teams.

A member of Rice’s faculty since 2008, Oswald researches a wide range of psychological testing and personnel selection issues in organizational, educational and military settings. He currently serves as associate editor for the Journal of Management, Psychological Methods, Research Synthesis Methods and Journal of Research in Personality and serves on nine editorial boards. He is a current member of the Board of Human Systems Integration of the National Academy of Sciences and is a fellow of the American Psychological Association and the Association for Psychological Science.
