Men win first
WAC tennis championship

The Rice men’s
tennis team won its first Western Athletic Conference championship
last weekend with a 4-1 victory over Southern Methodist
University. In doing so, the Owls secured a berth at the
NCAA regionals May 15 and 16.

The win was Rice’s
first league title since 1972 when it played in the Southwest
Conference.

Rice News
begins summer schedule

No Rice News
will be published May 13 or 20. The newspaper will begin
its monthly publication schedule for the summer May 27,
with issues to follow June 24, July 29 and August 26.

Rice News will
resume its weekly publication schedule in the fall.

Correction

The Rice News
incorrectly reported in the April 29 issue that the new
Boniuk Center for the Study and Advancement of Religious
Tolerance will be located in the James A. Baker III Institute
for Public Policy. The Boniuk Center have ties to the Baker
Institute but will not be located there.
