William A. Camfield, the Joseph and Joanna Nazro Mullen Professor of Art History,
gave a lecture titled "Dadamax Ernst Under the Microscope" at the
College Art Association, Los Angeles, on Feb. 14. The lecture was a joint presentation
with Elizabeth Lunning, paper conservator, the Menil Collection.
Harmon Gallant, lecturer, Dept. of Human Performance & Health Sciences,
and director, Sport Management Program, has been appointed to the five-member
Ethics Committee of the Houston 2012 Foundation. The foundation is the official
committee organizing Houston’s bid to secure the Summer Olympic Games in 2012.
Rex B. McLellan, professor, Dept. of Mechanical Engineering & Materials
Science, was invited to present a seminar and discuss his work on the interactions
between hydrogen atoms and vacancies in metals at Cambridge U. in Cambridge,
England, March 9-10.
Atieno Odhiambo, professor, Dept. of History, gave a presentation titled "The
Legitimate Roots of Ethnicity in Kenya" on March 31 at Yale University’s
Council on African Studies spring lecture series, "In and Out of Africa:
Explanations and Perspectives in an Uncertain World."
Duane Windsor, the Lynette S. Autrey Professor of Management in the Jones Graduate
School of Management, delivered an Anne Ballentyne Lecture on "International
Suppression of Business Corruption" at UT-Austin, Dept. of Management Science
and Information Systems, Business Law Section on March 5.
