Shevardnadze, Baker to Present ‘Town Hall’ Event

Georgia President Eduard Shev-ardnadze will talk about his country and participate
in a "town hall" meeting with former U.S. Secretary of State James
A. Baker, III, on the impact the end of the Cold War has had on the world during
a campus visit on Thursday, April 22.

Shevardnadze’s speech and his conversation with Baker will begin at 6 p.m.
in Stude Concert Hall, Alice Pratt Brown Hall. Rice students, faculty and staff
need to show university identification to attend the program. No handbags, backpacks
or briefcases will be allowed in the hall during the event.
