Leaders discuss flooding in the ‘Post-Harvey Era’

More than 200 flooding experts, researchers, engineers, city planners and policymakers attended the Oct. 8-9 conference “Post-Harvey Era: Resilient Engineering, Infrastructure & Policy” organized by Rice’s Severe Storm Prediction, Education and Evacuation from Disasters (SSPEED) Center. Speakers and panelists included SSPEED co-directors Jim Blackburn (left) and Phil Bedient (right), Harris County Commissioner Adrian Garcia (center) and representatives from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the City of Houston, Harris County, the Port Authority of Houston and more.
