Presidential Mentoring Award nominations sought

Nominations are being collected for the 2006 Presidential Mentoring Award through March 1.

Established in 2003, the award honors a faculty member who has made outstanding contributions to mentoring students.
Past recipients include Yin Zhang, professor of computational and applied mathematics; John Anderson, the W. Maurice Ewing Chair in Oceanography and professor of Earth science; and Yildiz Bayazitoglu, the Harry S. Cameron Professor in Mechanical Engineering.

Letters of support from previous or current students who are being mentored by the nominees are encouraged. Nominations made in 2004 and 2005 will be automatically considered for the 2006 award.
The award winner will receive a $2,000 prize and be recognized by the president during commencement exercises and will be recognized in the Rice News in May.

Nominations from faculty and graduate students should be mailed to the Presidential Mentoring Award Selection Committee by campus mail (MS 641) or by e-mail (rat@rice.edu).
