French ambassador to speak to speak at Baker Institute and present Commandeur de L’Ordre Du Merite to Rice president

The French ambassador to the U.S., Jean-David Levitte, will speak at Rice University’s Baker Institute for Public Policy at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27.

Levitte will discuss the evolving French-American relationship and the role of France in the Middle East.

He will be joined by Baker Institute Director Edward Djerejian for a discussion after the talk at Baker Hall.

 Later, Levitte will present the Commandeur de l’Ordre National du Mérite to Rice University President David Leebron.

The Ordre National du Mérite is an Order of Chivalry awarded by the president of France to non-French citizens in recognition of their commitment to the development of fruitful relationships between their country and France and of cultural exchanges between the two countries.
