New services offered at Brochstein Pavilion

When Brochstein Pavilion opens at 8 a.m. July 12, patrons will find a new menu and the ambiance of a familiar Rice Village institution.

Salento, a coffee and wine café located in the Village, has been serving up hot cups of java and sleek glasses of wine since 2003. Now the popular bistro will be providing food and beverage services at Brochstein Pavilion.

Coffee, tea and a variety of drinks and juices will be offered immediately, with wine to follow in the coming weeks. The pavilion’s menu will also expand to offer fresh salads, sandwiches and other bistro fare. Prices will be comparable to Salento’s Village location.

Summer hours for Brochstein Pavilion are 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Named in honor of former trustee Raymond Brochstein ’55 and his wife, Susan, Brochstein Pavilion is a 6,042-square foot building with an outdoor gathering space for students, faculty, staff and visitors. The pavilion includes a 10,728-square-foot wraparound exterior plaza and is located in the Central Quadrangle behind Fondren Library.
