New York Times correspondent to discuss coverage of ‘Arab Spring’ at Oct. 28 lecture at Rice

Anthony Shadid, a Pulitzer Prize-winning correspondent for the New York Times, will speak at Rice University Oct. 28 on the turmoil in the Middle East.

The lecture, titled “What My Eyes Can See: Covering the Arab Spring,” begins at 6:30 p.m. in Grand Hall of Rice Memorial Center. The lecture is free and open to the public.

Shadid is the author of “Night Draws Near: Iraq’s People in the Shadow of America’s War,” a 2005 account of the U.S. invasion and occupation of Iraq as seen through the eyes of ordinary Iraqis.
