When the Faculty Senate convenes for the first time this academic year Sept. 11, the nine new senators elected last spring will have a chance to discuss faculty matters.
The new senators and the schools they represent are:
–The George R. Brown School of Engineering: Luay Nakhleh (Department of Computer Science) and Laura Segatori (Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering).
–The School of Humanities: Graham Bader (Art History), Claire Fanger (Religious Studies) and Julie Fette (French Studies).
–The Wiess School of Natural Sciences: Gerald Dickens (Earth Science) and Michael Wolf (Mathematics).
–The School of Social Sciences: Jeffrey Fleisher (Anthropology).
–The School of Architecture (rotating one-year term): Dawn Finley.
Also in the spring election, Carl Caldwell, the Samuel G. McCann Professor of History, was re-elected speaker, and James Weston, professor of finance, was elected deputy speaker, for 2013-2014.
Meetings of the Faculty Senate are open to all members of the University community, but may be closed at the discretion of the Senate. All meetings are from noon to 2 p.m. on select Wednesdays in the Founder’s Room of Lovett Hall, unless otherwise noted.
