Celebrate Brazil’s Independence Day Sept. 9

Rice University will host “Bate Papo,” a reception celebrating Brazil’s Independence Day (observed Sept. 7), Sept. 9 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at Rice Memorial Center’s Farnsworth Pavilion. The event is free and open to the public.

“Bate Papo,” a Brazilian expression meaning “a casual chat,” is an opportunity for members of the Rice community to meet new and returning Brazilian students and scholars at Rice, learn more about Brazil and opportunities for studying in Brazil and enjoy light refreshments.

The event is sponsored by the Brasil@Rice Office, the Study Abroad Office and the Latin American Graduate Student Association. For more information, call 713-348-2833 or email ss22@rice.edu.
