Karin Broker, professor of printmaking in the Visual and Dramatic Arts Department, will receive an “Honorary Member of the Council” award at the 2020 SGC International conference held in Puerto Rico next April. The annual award honors those who have performed outstanding service to the SGC International organization. Broker has been an active member of SGC International since 1980 (when it was called the Southern Graphics Council) and served as its first female president from 1984-86.

Walter Chapman, the William W. Akers Professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, has been named a permanent guest professor at the Institute of Thermal Process Engineering at the Technical University of Hamburg. Chapman is in Germany as the winner of a Humboldt Research Award, which gives him the opportunity to spend 12 months conducting research and teaching at Hamburg.
